The McGeorge Wine Co. was established in 2009 by Winemaker, Simon McGeorge and his wife, Olive Hill.

Simon McGeorge | Winemaker
Simon has spent over 30 years creating award winning wines. He has produced wines for major international brands, local boutique labels, and everything in between.
Simon studied wine making at Lincoln University. He worked in Australia, France, Slovenia, America, and the main wine regions of New Zealand before moving to Waipara in 2006.
Simon’s passion for wine drives him to constantly explore new winemaking methods and techniques.
He continues to build on his knowledge and create the very best wines for his clients and for his own brands.
Olive Hill | The Winemaker’s Wife
Olive is a genuine people person. She has worked in a diverse range of industries and is an award winning customer service professional with years of retail, marketing, and administrative experience. Olive is fascinated by History, Anthropology, Human Rights, and NZ's increasing Social Inequality.
From 2005 to 2019 Olive ran the celebrated ‘Smith & Boston’ womenswear boutique with her sister, Ngaio Bell.
It was Olive's love of fun and fashion that led her to the initial idea for the wine brand, The Winemaker’s Wife.
Olive continues to work creatively with Simon and is always first to volunteer for tasting sessions!
